How to Trade

Never Traded Before? Start Here.

No jargon, no assumptions. Pick a step below and follow along — read it once and you'll know more than most people in the chat.

STEP 01

Set Up Your Wallet

A wallet is your bank account for crypto. Download Phantom (phantom.app) on your phone or as a browser extension, tap Create New Wallet, and set a password.

  • You'll get 12 random words — this is your seed phrase (the master key to your money).
  • Write those 12 words on paper. Never type them into a website, a chat, or your notes app.
  • Anyone who gets your seed phrase can take everything. Nobody from Normies will ever ask for it.
  • Your wallet address (public key) is the long string of letters you CAN safely share to receive funds.

STEP 02

Get Some SOL

Solana ($SOL) is the money you trade meme coins with. Buy SOL on an exchange like Coinbase, then send it to your Phantom wallet address.

  • Start with an amount you're genuinely fine losing — $100 is plenty to learn with.
  • Copy your wallet address from Phantom and paste it as the withdrawal address.
  • Always leave a little extra SOL in the wallet (about $5) to pay network fees.
  • Double-check the address before sending. Crypto transfers cannot be undone.

STEP 03

Find the Coin

Every coin has a contract address (CA) — a long string of letters that acts like its unique barcode. Calls in our groups always include the CA.

  • Copy the CA from the call and paste it into your trading terminal search bar.
  • Never trust a coin by name alone — scammers copy names and logos, not contract addresses.
  • Run the CA through rugcheck.xyz to confirm the liquidity is locked and the supply looks clean.

STEP 04

Make Your First Buy

Buying is just swapping: you put SOL into the coin's liquidity pool (a shared box of SOL and tokens) and get tokens back.

  • Type the amount of SOL you want to spend — try 0.1 SOL for your very first trade.
  • Set slippage to around 10–15% on small coins so the trade actually goes through.
  • Slippage just means the price moves a little between clicking buy and the trade finishing.
  • Press buy. Seconds later the tokens show up in your wallet.

STEP 05

Understand Market Cap

Market cap = every token in existence multiplied by the price. It's the size of the coin, and it's how you judge how much room it has to grow.

  • A coin called at 20K market cap that reaches 200K is a 10x.
  • Low market cap = big moves both up and down. High market cap = slower, steadier.
  • Liquidity (the SOL sitting in the pool) tells you how easily you can get out.
  • Thin liquidity means your sell can move the price against you.

STEP 06

Know When to Sell

Selling is the same swap in reverse: you put tokens in, you get SOL back. Deciding this ahead of time is the whole game.

  • Take your original money out at 2x. Now you're playing risk-free.
  • Sell in pieces — 25% here, 25% there — instead of trying to nail the exact top.
  • Decide your exit before you buy, not while you're watching the chart.
  • A green trade you actually sold beats a bigger one you rode back to zero.

STEP 07

Stay Safe

Most beginners don't lose money to bad trades — they lose it to scams. These rules cover almost all of it.

  • Never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone, ever.
  • Never click random links or connect your wallet to sites you don't know.
  • Nobody legitimate will DM you first offering to trade your money for you.
  • Use a separate wallet with small amounts for trading new coins.
